Health Care and Vaccination Programs for Cats

Emerson Animal HospitalGive your cat the medical attention he/she deserves with our pet vaccinations. Emerson Animal Hospital P.A. caters to the needs of your feline with inoculations for:

Distemper
The distemper, calicivirus, and rhinotracheitis inoculation is a three-in-one vaccination that protects your cat from serious and sometimes life-threatening illness. All cats should be vaccinated against these diseases, including felines that never go outside.

Rabies
Rabies is a fatal nervous system virus that can be transmitted to all mammals (including humans) through an animal bite. It is strongly recommended that all cats (indoor and outdoor) be vaccinated. A rabies vaccination is given at four months of age and older.

Feline Leukemia
Feline leukemia is a severe, usually fatal disease. It is contagious to other cats.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis
Feline infectious peritonitis is a life-threatening illness that is transferable to other cats. A simple intra-nasal vaccine helps prevent the disease.

FlV Vaccination
FELINE immunodeficiency Virus causes FELINE AIDS similar to human AIDS

Feline Leukemia Virus & Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (Feline AIDS)
Both the feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency viruses adversely affect a cat’s immune system. A FeLV/FIV test is recommended for all cats.

Fecal Tests
Emerson Animal Hospital P.A. tests your cat’s stool for internal parasites (worms). Many kittens are born with worms, and adult cats can acquire them. You will infrequently see them in the feces.
